Nursing Home Prayer Service
This group provides a communion prayer service every Monday for residents at area nursing homes to help meet their spiritual needs. The three nursing homes we provide this service to are: The Glendale, Heatherdowns Rehabilitation and Residential Care, and Concord Care Center. The team of volunteers assist residents to and from their room to the prayer service by walking them or pushing their wheelchair to another area within the nursing home facility. They also help the presider with communion distribution, water, music sheets, and the missalettes. Services are held on Monday mornings.
Communion to Shut-ins
This group provides communion to the homebound. If you are recovering from surgery and can't make it to Mass, we'd be happy to visit you. If you are not well enough to get out and about, or don't feel safe driving in winter months, we'd also love to bring you communion. Extraordinary ministers receive a consecrated host to bring to the home of a person that is unable to go to mass due to health or age related circumstances.
Volunteer Opportunities: This ministry involves the willingness to share a short period of time in a fellow parishioners home. The time will be spent in prayer, reflection and sharing of the body of Christ. We provide the training for volunteers for this important ministry. There is always a need for more people to provide communion to shut-ins. Jeannie Toon is our volunteer coordinator and Rita handles the initial contact and intake.
A Catholic mass for shut-ins is televised 11:00 am - 11:30 am. (unless otherwise noted)on WTOL TV and repeated on Buckeye Cable Channel 69 at 11:30 a.m. You also can listen to Mass on www.annunciationradio.com
