UP TO THE MINUTE

The "TBA" has been filled. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Janice Sager, parent, coach and now teacher in our Junior High. Ms. Sager will be teaching math to grades 7 and 8.

Please join us in welcoming all of the new teachers to our school:

Mr. Chris Brown - Jr. High Science

Mr. John Laney - Jr. High Religion

Mrs. Brenda Rayfield - Jr. High Language Arts

Ms. Janice Sager - Jr. High Math

Mrs. Elena Pappas - Spanish

To clarify, we know that many of you were aware that we were looking into "block" scheduling for this upcoming school year, to include grades 6, 7 and 8 as a "middle" school. As we proceeded with the scheduling of this, it became evident that with all of our specials (Spanish, Music, Band, Art and Phys Ed) that we simply did not have enough instructional minutes in our day to benefically impact our students in a positive way. Therefore, we will NOT being combining grades 6, 7 & 8 as a middle school but continuing on with our 7 & 8 junior high as in the past.  Grade 6 students will change within themselves as will grade 5.

TRANSPORTATION

As you may have heard transportation for the Toledo Public School District has changed. We will try and keep you as informed as possible to the developing changes as we ourselves find them out.

Included in your opening packet of information you should have received a "Request for Transportation" form from TPS.  All students in the TPS district will need to fill out and return this form directly to the TPS Transportation department on Hill Avenue. This form is for bussing as well as reimbursement for transporting your student(s).

At this time TPS has discountinued bussing to all students who live within a 2 mile radius of school. If you are within the 2 miles you will NOT have bussing. Students within the 2 miles may use TARTA to get them closer to home using the TARTA bus on their regular routes, these are NOT a student only route and will pick up and drop off on Heatherdowns Blvd. at a cost of $10.00 for a weekly pass or $40.00 for a monthly pass. Passes must be purchased directly from TARTA. If your student previously rode  TARTA they will continue the same routes as last year coming on to St. Pat's parking lot for pick-up and drop off. Students will also recieve a bus pass and no cost.

INTRODUCTION TO OUR SCHOOL

Our Mission Statement

St. Patrick of Heatherdowns is a Catholic school committed to assisting parents in educating their children. Students are encouraged to grow and develop spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially in a Christ-centered environment. As educators, we strive to develop life-long learners who are faith-filled, self-disciplined, and responsible citizens.

St. Patrick of Heatherdowns School (St. Pat's) has been educating children for over 50 years.  Our teaching staff has an average of over 15 years of teaching experience. Our focus is on the whole child, enriching their religious beliefs, advancing their education and preparing them socially.

Students attend Mass weekly and have religious instruction daily. We offer advanced math and Renaissance Math for grades 5 - 8, and accelerated reader to students in grades k - 4.

Services are available to students who need tutoring during school. We also service students on an Individualized Education Plan and offer two Learning Disability Specialists to meet their needs. We have a speech therapist and a full-time registered nurse.

A typical week at St. Pat's includes instruction in art, computer, library, music or band, and physical education (twice per week).
