Confirmation for Junior High Children
The Confirmation Program at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns begins in the 7th grade year and is completed during the 8th grade year.
Studying the 7th grade religion curriculum for the Diocese of Toledo, we see how well it flows into the Confirmation curriculum for students. All that the students learn and integrate in the 7th grade curriculum prepares them for their immediate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in their 8th grade year.
Classes for the students will be during their regular religion class time. (For SPH Elementary students, that will be done during religion class. Family Faith Formation students will have preparation classes during Wednesday night sessions.)
Preparation
Preparation will also include but will not be limited to require:
Four meetings for students with sponsors. These are to be scheduled throughout the year on your own time.
Four meetings for students with parents. These are to be scheduled throughout the year on your own time.
One meeting for students, parents and sponsors with the Sacramental Director.
Twenty-one hours of service within the parish, community and family beginning on September 1 of their 7th grade year and ending September 1 of their 8th grade year. (Required school or FFF hours can be included in this total number.)
A confirmation retreat.
All class assignments.
Specific assignments given to get ready for Confirmation. (This could include: Pastor's letter, a saint report, selection of a confirmation name, etc.)
Students must be registered in either the Elementary School or Family Faith Program. Any student beyond the 8th grade year should contact Sr. Regina for specifics regarding their preparation for Confirmation.
